Brighten Dental offer a comprehensive approach to preventive dentistry.
SCALE AND CLEAN
This is very important in preventive dentistry.
Removal of calculus (tartar): Calculus is hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth for some time and is now firmly attached to the tooth surface. Calculus forms above and below the gum line and can only be removed with a professional dental clean.
Removal of plaque: Plaque is a sticky, almost invisible film that forms on the teeth. It is a growing colony of living bacteria, food debris, and saliva. The bacteria produce toxins that inflame the gums. This inflammation is known as gingivitis which can lead to periodontal disease. Gingivitis is 100% reversible if managed correctly
Teeth polishing: Remove stain and plaque that is not otherwise removed during tooth brushing and scaling.
FLUORIDE TREATMENT
This is another treat highly recommended in preventive dentistry.
Fluoride treatments generally take just a few minutes. The fluoride may be in the form of a solution, gel, foam or varnish. Typically, it is applied with a cotton swab or brush, or it is used as a rinse or placed in a tray that is held in the mouth for several minutes. After the treatment, you may be asked not to rinse, eat or drink for at least 30 minutes to allow the teeth to absorb the fluoride and help repair microscopic carious areas.
FISSURE SEALANTS
These are a dental treatment intended to prevent tooth decay. Teeth have recesses on their biting surfaces; the back teeth have fissures (grooves) and some front teeth have pits. It is these pits and fissures that are most vulnerable to tooth decay, partly because food sticks in them and they are hard to clean areas.
Dental sealants are materials placed in these pits and fissures to fill them in, creating a smooth surface that is easy to clean.
Fissure seals are non-invasive procedure and no tooth cutting / drilling is required. Our latest material of fissure seals releases fluoride into the tooth keeping your teeth always mineralised and healthy
Fissure seals are recommended in preventive dentistry for especially for children and teenagers due to oral hygiene and change in diet / eating habits.
